EHS Coach Biographies:

Varsity Head Coach: Adam Gervis
Adam Gervis has been coaching Eastlake Boys Varsity soccer, assisted by John Anderson for over ten (10+) years. Noted as KINGO coach of the year four (4) times, Adam was also a Washington State Coach of the year. Gervis coached high school girls for four seasons at Mercer Island ending in the state final. Mr. Gervis is an 8th grade LA/SS teacher at Inglewood Junior High school. He and his wife have a 6-year-old daughter who plays soccer.

Assistant Varsity Coach: John Anderson
John has been coaching EHS Boys Varsity soccer since 2002. Anderson was a Crossfire Premier girls Club coach from 1998-2007. Other High school coaching positions include Nathan Hale HS girls Varsity 2005 & 2006, and Liberty HS boys JV 1999-2001. John played soccer at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. He also played at Harlaxton College in Grantham, England. Anderson is a Financial Advisor/Portfolio Manager at Wells Fargo Advisors, Carillon Point. John lives locally with his wife and three daughters.

Junior Varsity (JV) Coach: Mike Dowd
Michael Dowd coached EHS Boys Frosh/Soph last Spring, and EHS JV Girls Soccer the past two Falls ('09 & '10). Dowd was former men's soccer coach at Cedarcrest High School in Duvall and women's soccer coach at Bear Creek School in Redmond. Mike, a sports enthusiast, has also coached men's golf at Bear Creek School, women's basketball at Redmond, and numerous youth sports in the Snoqualmie Valley. He is employed as a police officer with the city of Redmond. Mike lives in Duvall with his wife, Jill, and their three kids.

Frosh/Soph Coach: Chris Meade
Chris Meade will be the Freshman/Sophomore Boys Soccer Coach at Eastlake. Last year, volunteering as Assistant Coach for EHS Boys JV soccer, Chris found he loved it so much he has asked to come back and is now hired as the Fresh/Soph team coach. Chris is finishing up his Senior year at Seattle Pacific University (SPU) and he is a volunteer Team Coordinator for Young Life at Eastlake.

Training/Practices
Soccer teams train after school every Monday thru Friday 3:00-4:30/5:00, unless otherwise directed by their coach. Except: no practice/training on game days. Practices are mandatory unless cleared with the coach in advance of the absence. Team events for Varsity are also mandatory. First practice began Mon 3/5 and tryout days count towards a players 10-practice minimum to be eligible to play in games. (Tryouts completed over 3 days, 2/28, 3/1, and 3/2--contact coaches to join late.

What to Bring/Wear
   Bring
water bottle (the coaches have a bag of size 5 soccer balls).
Wear soccer appropriate clothing, cleats, and all players must wear shinguards.
Note: Coaches may require running long distances so players should bring good running shoes/sneakers in addition to soccer clothes and cleats!
Uniforms & Requirements
Uniforms were distributed to all team players. EHS players purchased Nike socks: black for Frosh/Soph ($10), WHITE for JV ($10), and white plus maroon for Varsity ($20). Payments were collected at Parent Night. Turn-in all uniform pieces (bags, jerseys, shorts, minus socks) at end of season.

GAME DAY: Eastlake HS teams typically wear the lighter (white) uniform kit for home games and the darker for away. However, always bring both and be prepared for changes!

Varsity players attended Camp Casey on Whidbey Island the weekend of March 3th-4th. There was an additional charge of $130 to Eastlake Boys Soccer for this extra training/team-building excursion for retreat. Attendance was mandatory.  Camp retreat practices count towards game eligibility.

Required Parent Meeting was Thur 3/8/2011 @EHS
Frosh/Soph team 6:00pm, Junior Varsity (JV) 6:30pm, and Varsity 7:00pm in the Library. Support for our sports is 100% run by volunteers. Everyone should be involved to help in some way; help is still needed for Senior Night Coordinator (a sophomore or junior parent).

Preceeding each home game, teams may have required team-building events (e.g., Pasta Feeds for Varsity, Friday group dinners for Frosh/Soph, etc.) Parents and volunteers are needed to help support these gatherings!

Teams may also have food for away game/bus rides (e.g., sub-sandwiches, healthy snacks, recovery sport drink, etc.) Additional fees will be collected/paid via each player to their team. How High School Soccer differs from recreational, select, and premier sports:

Eastlake registration for High School Spring Sports began Monday, February 7. Complete and turn in all forms and include the participation fee. Each student must have their "clearance card" prior to the first tryout (2/28/11) or practices. Players must attend a minimum number of practices (10) prior to the first game in which they play. Athletes must pass required grade checks to be eligible to play in any competition/games. For full details, visit:
